Our Town has over 10 miles of gorgeous shoreline within it's City Limits, and we pride ourselves on the beauty and the tranquility of this majestic river. Fishing, boating, and water sports are a big part of the overall experience of living in Riverside. Mayor Mayor Rusty Jessup Mayor Jessup is a graduate of Shades Valley High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Sociology from Jacksonville State University where he met his wife, Sandra. Sandra is also a Jax State graduate, a retired elementary school teacher, and serves as president of the Riverside Beautification Organization. Rusty retired from a successful career in the insurance industry, spanning over 30 years. Mayor Jessup was recently elected as Vice President of the Alabama League of Municipalities. Beyond his mayoral duties, he also serves as Chairman of the St. Clair County Healthcare Authority and Chairman of the St. Clair County Mayors Association. He has served on the Alabama Municipal Funding Corporation and the Committee on State and Federal Legislation. He has served as a member of the ALM Board of Directors for the third congressional district, Chairman of the Committee on Energy, Environment and Natural Resources and currently serves as Vice President of the Alabama League of Municipalities. He has earned an Advanced diploma as a Certified Municipal Official from the League of Municipalities. Rusty is also a member of the Pell City Rotary Club, Jacksonville State University Political Action Committee, and Riverside Baptist Church. He is an avid golfer, a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and loves to spend weekends on his pontoon boat, exploring the Coosa River.
