River Bridge Repairs

Updated: Oct 7

Riverside residents planning to travel on I-20 be prepared for significant delays. One westbound lane, going towards Birmingham, of the ‘River Bridge’ over the Coosa River will be closed for major repairs beginning in October.

The up to 7-day closure of the westbound lane is necessary for repairs to enhance the structural integrity of the bridge and ensure the safety of all travelers. During this time, drivers may experience significant delays on I-20, as traffic will be limited to the alternate lane. This will more than likely have an effect on Hwy 78 traffic as well. It’s advisable to plan your route accordingly and allow extra time for your journey.

Traffic Management Details of the Closure-

Alabama Department of Transportation will implement traffic management and alternative routes to help facilitate smoother flows and minimize congestion.

Safety First-

Motorists are reminded to adhere to posted speed limits and be attentive to construction workers and machinery in the area. Safety is a top priority, and cooperation is essential.
